Two decades of guiding meaningful wilderness experiences
What began as informal backcountry trips with friends evolved into a commitment to share Canada's wilderness with those seeking authentic outdoor experiences. In 2000, we led our first guided expedition through the coastal mountains of British Columbia.
The founding vision was straightforward: create opportunities for people to experience wilderness in ways that foster appreciation and understanding rather than simply consumption. Each route we designed prioritized ecological sensitivity and meaningful engagement with the landscapes we traversed.
We believe the best wilderness experiences emerge when knowledgeable guides share their genuine enthusiasm for the natural world. Our team members bring diverse expertise spanning ecology, geology, Indigenous history, and outdoor safety. Each expedition becomes an opportunity for discovery.
Operating in sensitive ecosystems carries responsibility. We maintain certifications in Leave No Trace practices and participate in trail maintenance programs throughout our operating regions. A portion of every expedition fee supports conservation initiatives protecting the landscapes our guests come to experience.
Our partnerships with Indigenous communities ensure that our presence on traditional territories is respectful and mutually beneficial. We engage local knowledge keepers to deepen the cultural dimensions of our tours.
"The guides weren't just leading us through beautiful terrain—they were sharing a relationship with the land that had clearly developed over many years. That kind of authenticity cannot be manufactured."— David R., Toronto
Our expedition leaders hold certifications in wilderness medicine, swift water rescue, and avalanche safety. Most importantly, they share an infectious enthusiasm for the natural world that transforms tours into memorable journeys.
We cap expedition sizes at 8-10 participants. Smaller groups move more quietly through wildlife habitat, leave less impact, and create space for personalized attention from guides.
Core principles that shape every expedition we lead
We operate as guests in wild spaces. Our presence should enhance understanding of ecosystems, not compromise them.
Meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and rural residents strengthen our work and benefit local economies.
Rigorous training, quality equipment, and conservative decision-making ensure that adventure never compromises wellbeing.
We avoid manufactured moments. Real wilderness encounters create lasting memories that scripted activities cannot replicate.
